About the Company
Our client is a leader in the manufacturing of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) materials, proudly supplying Melbourne’s most reputable civil construction and building companies. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking experienced and motivated Maintenance Fitters(or skilled Technical Hands with equivalent experience) to join their team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and optimisation
of production machinery and plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and safe, efficient operation. The role requires a hands-on trades person with strong diagnostic skills and proven experience working with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, air, and steam systems
within a manufacturing environment.
Shift Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 8:00am to 4:00pm (7.6 hours) plus 4 hours.
- All extra hours paid at overtime rate first 3 at time half then double. Sunday all double. Public holidays Triple time.
- Conduct preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance across plant machinery and equipment.
- Schedule and record all maintenance tasks using company systems and software.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and conduct periodic stock takes.
- Work with the Production Manager to develop and implement maintenance strategies and improvement initiatives.
- Assist with installations, commissioning, and decommissioning of plant and equipment.
- Liaise with local and international machinery suppliers for parts and technical support.
- Contribute technical advice and troubleshooting support to key stakeholders.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, reliability, and workplace safety.
- Qualified Mechanical Fitter or similar trade background.
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in a maintenance fitter role within manufacturing or process environments.
- Proven experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and steam/air systems(boiler or compressed air systems experience highly regarded).
- Familiarity with manufacturing, quality, and maintenance software systems.
- Sound understanding of plant safety, environmental, and risk assessment practices.
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience within the EPS industry or similar environment advantageous.
